My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An exciting conclusion to a running arc that’s covered both South America and Texas. The team has been trying to find and capture the man called Coyote throughout the HQ: Texas series. This time we have Shep Lewis and FBI Agent Lilly Tanner. These two have a history. When she was 17 and he 24, he was her parole officer and she gave him nothing but trouble ending with the burning down of his house and her stealing his car. Now its 10 years later and Shep and the boys are close to finally bringing down a terrorist plot when the FBI sends in an Agent to assist. Shep is not happy when he finds out that the agent is Lilly.

Lilly had a rough childhood and was bounced from foster home to foster home. She was a wildcat that couldn’t be tamed. She also had a huge crush on her PO officer but knew she wasn’t ready to live by the straight and narrow so she stole Shep’s car and left. During the next 10 years she got an education and worked her way up to working for the FBI. Even though she has straightened out her life she still suffers from major abandonment issues and feels bad for what she did to Shep all those years ago.

When these two are forced to work together they realize that the small attraction they had years ago has bloomed into an adult sexual attraction that neither wants to give into. But during their undercover opt and bringing down the bad guys and stopping chemical weapons from entering the US these two face there demons and give into their desires.

I love both the SDDU and HQ Texas series that are inter related and hope that the author continues the SDDU series so we can keep up with what’s happening with these guys.
