My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A detailed look in to the lives of Latino gang members in the Washington, DC area. The author is very detailed with her giving the reader a look at all sides of gang life from its members to those that are trying to help others stay out of the gang life to the Task forces that are assigned to the crimes and murders being committed by them.
The book starts out with a pregnant teen who is murdered. She was a student of Travania Barlow is a sociology professor and an expert on Latino gangs who also teaches a GED course to teen girl high school drop outs. What she doesn’t know is the murdered teen has put her in the crosshairs of the Chingazos gang.
One of the people assigned to the case is Cruz Larsen a FBI Agent that works on the Metro Area Gang Task Force. Cruz himself was part of a gang growing up so has a deep understanding of them but also a few demons.
The book plot leans more to the murder/gang story line than romance but there enough sexual tension between Trevy and Cruz to satisfy the romance readers. The writing was sharp and detailed. Defiantly an author to watch.
