On Her Father's Grave (Rogue River #1)On Her Father’s Grave #1 by Kendra Elliot

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Small town suspense is the core for this four part series from Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. Each take a different sister and tell their story with the back drop being of the deaths of a couple of kids that looks to be from a new drug that could be being manufactured and distributed from one of their own in the small town of Solitude, Oregon.

Kendra has Stevie Taylor who just recently comes back to Solitude after the death of her father who had been the Police Chief. Stevie left home at 18 and went to Los Angeles where she eventually was on the LAPD. After seeing her fare share of horrible things and after recently going home for her father’s funeral she decides she’s missed the small town life and her family and comes back to be a patrol officer on their small police force.

As this is just the first part we get good background on Stevie’s family and quite a few of the residents in Solitude and it doesn’t take long for Stevie or the reader to see something foul is going on in the town. At the end we are left with more questions than answers but the stage is set for the future books where hopefully we will get the answers to what is really going on.

Gone to Her Grave (Rogue River #2)Gone to Her Grave #2 by Melinda Leigh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The plot thickens in the 2nd book in this four part series from Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. Each take a different sister and tells their story with the back drop being of the deaths of a couple of kids that looks to be from a new drug that could be being manufactured and distributed from one of their own in the small town of Solitude, Oregon.

Melinda part is about Carly Taylor who is a social worker whose calls have increased since the new drug has hit town. A lot more of the residents of Solitude may be involved in the making and selling of the deadly drug that’s killing people. When a kid is accused of being someone selling the drug by another kid Carly is called in and believes he is innocent but her investigation and job have her dealing with some unsavory parents which puts her in harm’s way.

Carly’s husband Seth has been transferred to the Drug Task Force and with the sudden influx of deaths from the new drug his job has gotten more stressful. Added to that stress he and Carly are separated. Carly and their daughter have been living with her mother since she left him. Seth has some issues with thinking a wife shouldn’t work outside the home and especially not at a job as dangerous as the one Carly has. You can tell deep down that Seth is a good guy and loves his wife and daughter but boy does he need to enter the 21st century when it comes to women.

Again more questions than answers at the end of this one but your curiosity is defiantly running on over drive wondering whose behind everything. This one hit a little more on the emotion side with Carly’s job. Being a social worker and having to deal with abused wives and children isn’t a job I think I could handle. The author didn’t pull any punches in showing us the ugly side of domestic abuse, which for this gal who likes the dark and twisted kept me turning the pages.

Her Grave Secrets (Rogue River #3)Her Grave Secrets #3 by Kendra Elliot

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The bodies are piling up and many questions are answered in this third installment in the Rogue River series. Officer Stevie Taylor and police chief Zane Duncan have their hands full with old murders and new ones all related to the drug problem going on in their small town. As they follow the trail we get some answers and even find out who one of the bad guys is but we still don’t know who is pulling the strings on ordering all the deaths and who is trying to take over being the big distributer of the new drug that’s killing some of its users. I am really looking forward to the final installment so we finally learn just what exactly has been going on and who is behind it all.

Walking on Her Grave (Rogue River #4)Walking on Her Grave #4 by Melinda Leigh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In this fourth and final book in the Rogue River series we finally get all the answers to who has been behind all the death and drugs in Solitude. I admit to possibly yelling “I knew it” when the reveal came. But before that happens there are a lot more tense moments as Seth and Carly try to figure out who is behind it all and also try and put their marriage back together.

Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot are two of my favorite suspense authors and it was a treat to have them both team up for this serial series. Each author had a separate couple they wrote about but yet each book followed the murders and drug plot that tied them together. I enjoyed the series and as always look forward to reading more from them.
